Academic Success
Although not the only measure of an outstanding school, academic success is clearly one of our key foci at Gateways. The overarching teaching principle at Gateways School is to ensure that we create a challenging yet supportive learning environment that develops individuals and provides the educational foundation to go forward and achieve in higher education and/or a future profession.
In general we achieve this by ensuring our curricula best serve our pupils’ age-specific learning needs, ensuring our facilities are fit for purpose and by providing opportunities to learn new skills and develop existing ones. Teaching takes place in specialist rooms and groups are small, therefore plenty of individual attention and support is available.
More specifically we achieve this by focusing on understanding the individual learner who has specific goals and needs. At Gateways no pupil is anonymous. Each pupil is encouraged to develop independent thinking and work towards being an autonomous learner.
