Admissions
While our academic standards are high and many pupils achieve outstanding results, Gateways does not select pupils on academic criteria alone.
The Gatehouse Nursery and Pre-preparatory School
A short visit is arranged so that both parents and staff can observe the child in the new environment.
Preparatory School
Once pupils have spent time in the Preparatory School they will undertake assessment tests suitable to their age group. Should any difficulties be highlighted, the school will work closely with parents to ensure that their child is suitably
supported.
High School
Girls from the Preparatory School normally progress to the High School after gaining satisfactory results in the Entrance Examination. Should any difficulties arise, they are discussed with parents at an early stage. Entry for other children is by examination and interview, usually at the age of 11 or 13. Vacancies occur occasionally in other age groups and candidates are assessed by appropriate entrance papers and a personal interview.
Sixth Form
A minimum of six GCSE grades A*, A, B or C or the equivalent is normally required for admission to an A Level course, with grade A* or A in the subjects for study. Admission to a one-year AS Level course is by interview; grades required for this course will normally be lower than for A Level study. There is an admission interview for all candidates.
