All Gateways parents are members of Friends of Gateways (FoG). The core FoG committee is an enthusiastic group of parents and teachers from the school who work together to organise social events and other initiatives to fundraise for Gateways. Thanks to the support of our fundraising events and initiatives by the wider school community, a large number of items have been purchased for the school. To date, these have included, but are not limited to:
• a grand piano
• sound and lighting equipment
• play equipment
• climbing walls
• library books and DVDs.

As you can imagine a committee like FoG requires a team effort. Could you help in any way?

• Would you like to be contacted about future meetings?
• Are you able to give a few hours of your time to assist with future events?
• Do you have any ideas for future fundraisers?
• Do you have access to any equipment that might be of use for our events?
• Did your previous school run any successful events that you think could work?

If you answered YES to any of these questions, then please e-mail us on fog@gatewayschool.co.uk or call the school on 0113 288 6345.

FoG events
Throughout the year, we organise social events for both the children and parents. Events vary from year to year, but have included quiz nights, ladies’ pamper evenings and children’s discos. Some regular features on our annual school calendar are listed below.

Coffee mornings
Coffee mornings are held each month in the Dining Room from 8.30am until 10.00am. Look out for the dates published in advance in the Prep School Newsletter, High School Bulletin and on the website. We vary the day of the week to enable those with work commitments to attend. You will be very welcome.

Summer Ball
For a number of years now the Gateways Summer Ball has been the social highlight of the year. The ball is a perfect opportunity to socialise and meet new friends and acquaintances.

The black tie ball takes place in a marquee, which is located on the lawned grounds of the school, and is usually held on the last Saturday before the end of the Summer Term. The ball is open to parents, staff, Sixth Form pupils, family, friends and Old Gatewegians.

The evening begins with a drinks reception, followed by a three-course meal. After dinner, there may be an auction or grand prize draw followed by musical entertainment until the wee hours. If you have not yet attended a Gateways Summer Ball, we hope that you will make a note in your diaries for next year to ensure your place at this sell-out event.

Christmas Fayre
Held early in December, our Christmas Fayre is a great opportunity for the whole family to come and do some Christmas shopping, visit Santa in his grotto, enjoy the carol singing and even have a turkey roll or mince pie or two.

Christmas lunch
Come and join us at Rudding Park for a three-course festive luncheon, good company and a breather before the festive rush. There is an opportunity to purchase gifts or win a fabulous hamper in our prize draw. Make a note in your diaries – an event not to be missed.

FoG initiatives
In addition to our events, we also organise some fundraising initiatives.

Recycling initiatives
To compliment the efforts of the Gateways’ Environment Club to reduce waste and encourage recycling, we organise collections for unwanted clothing twice a year and also collect ink cartridges and mobile phones. Information is sent home in the weekly Prep School Newsletter and High School Bulletin or is available on the website.

Nearly New Uniform Shop
FoG runs the Nearly New Uniform Shop, which is situated opposite the entrance to Littlegates. The shop is open for the purchase of uniforms from 8.30–9.00am on Wednesdays and 3.30–4.30pm on Fridays. Unwanted uniform items can be sold in the shop, with proceeds from the sale of items split 50/50 between the vendor and FoG.
