Going green - the next industrial revolution?
The new Green Gateways Business Club invites you to hear from Heads of Sustainability from the UK's most iconic schemes and thought-leading companies, as major changes in business move us to a sustainable economy. From April 2010 Government legislation will drive change, financial incentives and new technologies will create winners and losers in the new green economy. The UK Government has committed to an 80% reduction in greenhouse gases on the 1990 levels by 2050 and is implementing a number of schemes to incentivise the reduction of carbon emissions. The Climate Change Levy is an additional tax that businesses must pay on purchases of energy. Generation Y is already voting to work for organisations who put corporate responsibility high on their agenda.
Green Gateways Business Club speakers will outline the risks, drivers and benefits of going green, share best practice and offer high-level networking opportunities for companies of all sizes.

Headmistress at Gateways independent girls’ school, Yvonne Wilkinson, says increased collaboration between business and education is essential to tackle Yorkshire’s heavy emissions:
“Schools and businesses must set a framework of values on top of academic success. Our former students are amongst those producing cutting-edge technology that could ultimately sell to the world in a market estimated to be worth £500bn by 2050.”
