Lamda Examinations

Girls at Gateways have the opportunity to take extra curricular Drama lessons leading to LAMDA examinations from U1 right through to U6. At present almost a third of the school choose to take part in group lessons which develop skills in communication, public speaking, acting technique and performance and also complement many components of the English and the GCSE 'O' and 'A' level courses.
Examinations are taken in groups through the preparatory and middle schools and in the Upper School, Bronze, Silver and Gold medal level candidates enter as soloists or pairs and are able to gain UCAS points.

Success rates are high at all levels with between 50% and 70% gaining Distinction at all grades.

Recent high school success

Congratulations to the girls who returned to school after the Easter break to find they had all gained medals in last term’s LAMDA drama examinations. All girls entered in pairs, apart from one soloist, and impressed the examiner with their acting ability, knowledge of technique and knowledge of the plays from which they performed scenes. Of the 15 girls who took part in the examinations, six gained distinctions, six gained merits and all gained valuable UCAS points for their efforts
