11.12.09German exchange visit
On Friday, 27 November, seven Lower V girls and two Lower VI students from Gateways set off on the
experience of a lifetime – as part of a long-standing exchange programme with the Herschelschule in
Hannover, the girls spent a week staying with a German family. The group was met at the airport in Hannover by their German partners and everyone was whisked away for a weekend with their host family. The following week they visited their partner school and spent a lot of time in Hannover making the most of the wonderful Christmas markets. The girls also visited Berlin, with its amazing history, Wolfsburg, the home of Volkswagen, and Hameln, where they were shown around by a rather amusing Pied Piper! During the week, everyone became extremely close to their exchange partners and no-one wanted to come home. The girls are looking forward to the return visit in March.
