L5 GCSE Food Technology group learn how to make bread commercially!

The L5 GCSE Food Technology group visited one of Yorkshire's premier companies,Warburtons Bakery, an independently owned family run bakery with over 130 years of bread making history.  They had a tour of the factory and saw, in action, the whole bread making process from raw ingredients to the packaging and dispatch. The visit provided an excellent opportunity to witness commercial scale production and the use of automation in the food industry.

The group were lucky enough to visit product development area where the mass production of a new snack product was being trialled.  No details can be revealed but it is due to go on sale in the next few months!!  Free loaves of bread were a generous leaving gift for the girls !

Many thanks to Warburtons for providing such an excellent educational experience. The visit  will hopefully lead to a ‘rise’ in grades for the girls!
