Ronnie the Rhino is a winner with Prep pupils

On Thursday 11th February Ronnie the Rhino, the Leeds Rhinos Rugby team mascot, visited Gateways School in Harewood to speak to the pupils about how to create a winning team.
Ronnie is part of the Leeds Rhinos community outreach team and together with fellow community team member,Gareth Cooke, known as Cookie, gave an amusing assembly to Prep School children. They spoke about the importance of respect and manners in sport, as well as in school. Ronnie and Cookie also brought with them the Super League trophy that the Rhinos won in 2009 for the third year running; the girls were very excited about seeing and holding the famous sporting prize.
After the assembly, Ronnie and Cookie held coaching lessons in the sports hall for all age groups from Upper Reception, with pupils of 4 and 5 years old, right through to 10 and 11 year olds in Year 6. The pupils were given coaching in tag rugby, the non contact version of the game.
