Art Activities (U3 – U6)
Seasonal art activities and house art undertaken.

Art Club (L5 – U6)
Portfolio development and independent studies for GCSE and Sixth Form students.

Business Club (U3 – U6)
Business skills and knowledge are developed. Activities include planning and working at stalls at the Gateways Christmas Fayre, a stocks and shares competition and the use of business software to complete interactive business activities.

Counterpoint (U3 – U6)
An auditioned group of approximately 16 singers who meet every Friday lunchtime to prepare music for concerts and special events such as Open Morning, award assemblies or invitation concerts (such as Rudding Park or Leeds City Varieties). Many of the choir sing in external choirs for example the Opera North Children’s Choir, or National Youth Choir and many take individual singing lessons.

Debate Society (U3 – U6)
Run by a pupil in U5, the debate society gives pupils a chance to practise debating skills.

High School Choir (U3 – U6)
60 pupils and a handful of staff meet every Tuesday to practise songs for the Carol Service, a Spring Concert, occasional assemblies and the end of year Prize-giving ceremony.

High School Production practice (U3 – U6)
Rehearsals for the school production which takes place in the spring term.

Hockey (U3 – L4) (U4 – U5)
Hockey tactics and match play

Horticulture club (U3 – U6)
A range of activities including planting vegetables and other crops. The club has a stall at the Christmas Fayre selling a range of school made food products.  Daffodils are grown and sold for Mothers Day. Gardening and business skills are developed.

*Individual Music Lessons (U1 – U6)
30 minute lessons taught by our peripatetic teachers. Lessons available include Piano, Singing Violin, Guitar, Drums and woodwind instruments including Clarinet and Flute. Lessons for pupils in U1-U4 are taught throughout the school day on a rotating basis (so pupils do not miss the same part of the day each week). Priority is given to GCSE and A Level students for lessons before or after school or during free periods.

*Karate (AK) (U1-U6)
A Karate class run by external provider “A.K Family Karate and Fitness” which provides students with realistic and accessible self-defence strategies. It is a blend of different disciplines and styles of martial arts which draws on “Tang soo do” boxing and freestyle kick boxing. Students grade from white belt (beginners) through to black belt and Dan status. To view the AK Karate website please click here.

Languages Clinic (U3 – U6)
A chance to catch up on any missed work or to go over any topics pupils are unsure about or finding difficult.

Marketing Committee (sixth form only)
A group which meets to discuss marketing ideas and current plans. This groups runs the sixth form Instagram account and also helps with the termly “Cherryvine” publication.

Netball (U3 – U4) (U4-U5)
Develop skills and prepare for matches.

Netball (U4 – U6)
Develop tactics, game play and high end skills.

Orchestra (U3 – U6)
This small ensemble meet every Thursday lunchtime under specialist instruction from Woodwind and String teachers to prepare for the Spring Concert. Every pupils who reaches grade 1 will have music that they can play and take the opportunity to learn ensemble skills.

Rounders Skills (High)
This club is run in the summer term and focuses on developing rounders skills in preparation for matches.

Running Club (U3 – U6)
a 5km run around the Harewood estate for all levels and abilities.

School Council (High)
The High School Council is run by the Upper Sixth School Council prefect. It consists of one pupil per form group plus one member of staff. The group discusses issues and initiatives such as the level of homework and the lunch queuing system.

Science Clinic (U3 – U6)
A chance for pupils to catch up on any missed work or to ask questions about topics studied.

*Speech and Drama (U1-U6)
Sessions are designed to embrace drama and movement work and will also provide our pupils with important speaking and listening skills which support the curriculum through key stages 2-4. Lessons are group based and pupils will be entered for external group drama examinations with New Era Academy.

*Tennis Club (U3 – U4)
Run in the summer term this class focuses on development of tennis skills and techniques.

Ultimate Frisbee (U3-U6)
A fast paced team game with high energy levels and quick scoring. An exciting mix of Netball, American Football and Basketball.

YouTube club (U3-U6)
A new club whereby pupils can make YouTube videos for the school YouTube channel. A chance to learn a bit about film production, marketing and media.
