Gateways pupil becomes cricket National Champion!

Jess Tully from Gateways school, Harewood has had a busy and hugely successful summer holiday playing for the U13s Yorkshire Girls’ cricket team who were competing in the Royal London ECB U13s National Championship!

The Yorkshire Girls’ U13s were crowned National Champions for the 5th consecutive year on the 23rd August. After an unbeaten league campaign, the team travelled to Grantham and came through a tough semi-final (vs. Hampshire) and a tight final (vs. Kent) eventually running out winners by 17 runs.

Jess became the team’s top wicket-taker with 18 wickets during the season taking 2 wickets in the final itself!

The victorious team were given a lap of honour during lunch at the Headingley test match!

What a fantastic achievement for Jess and the U13s team! We’re all very proud of you!
