U8A&B Tag Rugby Festival at Richmond House (Tuesday 21st November)

U8 Netball Festival at Richmond House (Tuesday 21st November)

Result – No results recorded (Festival)

Our U8 boys and girls travelled to Richmond House School in Leeds on Tuesday afternoon to take part in, what proved to be, a fantastic afternoon of sport!

The weather in the morning looked to be in the balance however, by the time 1pm arrived, North Leeds was bathed in sunshine to the delight of all concerned!

Over the course of 2 hours, 22 matches were played by our 3 teams with some excellent rugby and netball being played by all who took part. The netball girls, playing in their first tournament, started like an express train, winning their first two matches. By the end of the afternoon they were beginning to tire but the standard of their play was exceptional.

The rugby group played superbly and are improving all of the time. Their support play when attacking is particularly strong and their defensive skills are improving all of the time.

Player of the Match in the netball was awarded to the whole team due to the fact that they all played really well! In the rugby, Sam Jennings and Zack Burnley were awarded the accolade due to their excellent running in attack. For Sam, this was particularly impressive due to the fact that it was his first match!

U11A Hockey v Read School (Wednesday 22nd November)

Result – Lost -2-7

The U11s played superbly well with the final result not really reflecting the pattern of the match. In the first quarter, the girls were missing their tackles and found themselves 3 goals down. However, an adjustment in their approach meant they kept winning the ball back high up the pitch and they soon found that the tide started to turn. The opposition had one stand out player who scored the majority of their goals but the Gateways defence were able to thwart her advances on numerous occasions!

Player of the Match went to Eleanor Davison for her debut display in between the sticks and it was a unanimous vote from the squad!
