U16 Hockey v Roundhay

This was a really good match for the U16s and they played their part. The opposition started quickly a burst into a 2-0 lead leaving the young Gateways side a little shell-shocked.  Gradually Gateways forged their way back in to the contest and clinical finishing from Jenna Borlant gave them a lifeline just before half time.  The second half saw opportunities at both ends but the score remained 2-1. Well done to all concerned!

Gateways 1 – 2 Roundhay

U11A Netball v Terrington Hall

This was a tough ask for our U11A team against a team undefeated this season in 12 matches. Gateways started slowly, gifting the opposition with the ball far too often and they were punished for their lack of precision.  The second half of the match saw an improvement in their play but the match was over by this point. The final score was 14-3 to Terrington but this team has so much potential and I know that they will come back stronger than ever next season!

U8 Tag Rugby at Richmond House Festival

This was a lovely occasion for our Y2 boys as they performed superbly well all afternoon. Playing 5 x 10 minute matches on the warmest afternoon of the year so far it was no wonder that some of the boys were looking a little red in the face by the end of the contests. For a group of year 7s at an U8 tournament to play as maturely as they did was a great achievement and something that bodes well for next year! All of the players did very well but David Marshall really put in a shift and made some excellent breaks!

U9 Netball v Terrington Hall

U9s played Terrington Hall on Wednesday and came away with a comfortable win with the final score 7-3. All the girls played really well as a team and used the space on the court to their advantage, creating some good opportunities for our shooters.  Although all the girls put in a very solid performance the POM goes to Georgie Gould (C) for both her excellent defensive and attacking play. Well done girls you were fantastic!

U8 Netball Festival at Richmond House

The U8 Netball Team went to Richmond House School this week to play in a festival. Their first match was against Westville House which was a very competitive game. Both teams has excellent possession as well as defending the ball very well. When the final whistle went it was 3-2 to Westville House. The next three games were against three different teams from Richmond House, all of varying standards. Gateways played many different rotations and all the girls proved that they a great versatility to play in defence and in attack. Gateways won the next three matches and did not concede any goals. They were awarded “hardest team to score against” and all received a medal.
