Please note that any readers comparing the above statistics to Government published league tables will notice discrepancies between the two. The reason is that only the results of pupils whose 16th birthday fell between 1st September 2002 and 31st August 2003 are counted by the Government. Among the pupils who took GCSE examinations at Gateways in 2003 there were a number who, for individual reasons, were not in their “chronological” year group – some were ahead of it, some behind. This accounts for the difference and highlights our policy of treating each pupil as an individual.
