Involvement and success in activities outside the academic curriculum can make a significant contribution to the development of girls’ confidence and self-esteem and their all-round education. At Gateways, we offer as many opportunities as possible for our pupils to develop new skills and achieve personal goals.
Music,
Drama and
Sport are all particular strengths at Gateways. Because we are a relatively small school there are many more opportunities for girls to represent the school in a sport, to take a leading role in a dramatic production or to perform a solo or within one of many musical ensembles. A wide range of clubs and societies including
Life
Drawing, Science,
History,
Reading Circle and
Marvellous Mystics ensures that girls can pursue interests in many areas.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme is well established and popular. Recent World Challenge expeditions to Romania and Spain were well supported. Fundraising for local and international causes as well as giving time to the local community is co-ordinated through
Community Link and the school has a particularly active and thriving
Amnesty International group.
