Central to our school ethos is the belief that
every pupil is special. In recognising each girl
for the important, unique individual that she is,
we aim to provide a caring environment, which
offers support to every member of our community.
If a pupil is ever experiencing difficulty, then
she can talk to her form tutor or approach her
Pastoral Head. There are however times when
expertise other than the skills of a form tutor or
Pastoral Head is required.
A school nurse is on hand for health related
problems. Professional reassurance and appropriate
treatment is available so that everyone in the
community feels that he or she receives the best
advice promptly on any medical issue.
A pupil's behaviour or demeanour may indicate a
more serious underlying problem. When this is so,
after due discussion with the pupil and her
parents, an individual appointment is made with a
counselling psychologist who comes to school on a
weekly basis. A one-to-one programme may last a
few weeks only or be more long term. Our being
able to offer prompt and appropriate expert
guidance is reassuring for both the individual and
the Pastoral Team.
We hope therefore to be able to offer any pupil
relevant care at the right time. In so doing, our
pupils are encouraged to feel secure and confident
thus allowing them to flourish academically and
personally.
