Many students have not yet decided on their future career when they are choosing which subjects to study in the Sixth Form. At Gateways we help to ensure that the courses students select, combined with the GCSEs they already have, enable them to keep their options open.
Throughout the Sixth Form there is a carefully constructed and comprehensive careers programme including joint events
with other schools, opportunities for work shadowing, attendance at careers conventions and university visits. Speakers from a wide range of professions are also invited into school.
Most Gateways Sixth Formers go on to study their preferred course at their first choice of University. They are given extensive help and support in the preparation of their UCAS application and personal statement. References and predicted grades are discussed openly to give the best possible chance of gaining a place on a student’s preferred course.
