 The
school works in partnership with the
Harrogate-based AVA Academy and its Principal Mrs
Ann Atkinson to offer lessons in creative dance,
tap and modern jazz. Classes follow the Theatre
Dance syllabuses of the International Dance
Teachers' Association (IDTA) and pupils are
prepared for grades and medals where appropriate.
The emphasis is on the enjoyment of dance, but
lessons have a technical and skill-based focus and
pupils learn a range of styles accompanied by a
varied selection of music. Classes are arranged by
year group and open to all Prep pupils from
Nursery through to Lower III. Classes last for 30
minutes and have around 10-15 pupils in each.
