Pastoral support

At Gateways, we are keenly aware that for a young mind to thrive and be successful, it first needs to be happy and content.  We pride ourselves on the quality of pastoral care we are able to deliver through each and every member of the staff team, but in particular, through our excellent form tutors and dedicated pastoral leads of each Key Stage.

Mrs Bartle looks after our Early Years pupils while Mrs Heather Hallam takes care of our pupils in Key Stage 1.  Miss Jade Preston assumes responsibility for our Key Stage 2 pupils as they prepare for life beyond the Prep School in due course.

When the pupils move into High School, Mrs Sara Holmes is their first Pastoral Lead throughout Key Stage 3 with Mr Tom Davidson taking over from her as they transition into their GCSE years at Key Stage 4.  Finally, the all important Sixth Form years arrive and Mr Jon Sharpe is their guide and support during this crucial time as they begin to look beyond our gates and ahead into the next exciting chapter after Gateways.

However, sometime situations arise that are beyond the scope of our excellent pastoral care team and that is where Mrs Kerry Ray can step in.  A qualified counsellor and psychotherapist, Kerry is unique in the sense that the pupils, if they choose to see her, only see her in the capacity of being part of their support network.  They don’t face her in the classroom, or on the sports field, at Parents’ Evenings or in any other setting.  She creates a safe space for them to unload and for her to help them to navigate whatever life may be throwing at them at the time.  To read more about what Kerry offers us and to find out how she may be contacted, please click on the short letter from her below.
