At Gateways we value our connections with the wider community and our Community Outreach programme involves pupils of all ages in supporting local, national and international charities. Involvement in these projects promotes community awareness and compassion, creating individuals who are well-rounded and responsible global citizens.
In the final term of each year, pupils take part in a ballot to choose the school charity for the following year. Charities which we have supported in recent years include Leeds based homeless charity St George’s Crypt, Teenage Cancer Trust, St Gemma’s Hospice and Mary’s Meals, a national charity which aims to provide a nutritious meal in a place of learning for children in deprived areas of the world.
Our school charity for 2016-2017 is YoungMinds. YoungMinds is the leading charity committed to improving the emotional wellbeing and mental health of children and young people. The charity is driven by the experiences of young people to campaign, research and influence policy and practice. To find out more about YoungMinds please click here.
