Community Outreach - Gateways School

Community Outreach

In this section:

At Gateways we value our connections with the wider community and our Community Outreach programme involves pupils of all ages in supporting local, national and international charities. Involvement in these projects promotes community awareness and compassion, creating individuals who are well-rounded and responsible global citizens.

In the first term of each year, pupils from the Prep and High School take part in a ballot to choose the school charities for that year.  Throughout the year various fundraising activities such as bake sales, non uniform days etc take place. Charities which we have supported in recent years include Leeds based homeless charity St George’s Crypt, local Hedgehog rescue centre Prickly Pigs, Lineham Farm Children’s Charity, Martin House Children’s Charity, MacMillan and the Singing Children of Africa.

During the last week of the summer term, High School pupils participate in various activities during Enrichment Week, some of which involve community outreach projects.  Pupils also take part in the annual community walk to raise money for the chosen High School charities.
